Duties and Rights:
In Islam, women and men are both servants to One God (Allah) (as i mention in the basics of Islam Allah is an Arabic word for God). They are equal in both responsibilities (duties) and rights. These responsibilities and rights are determined by Allah. We should know that equality is just in Rights and duties not in physical aspects!
However, one would see some duties that are required from men only; and vise versa. Allah (the Creator) knows what is appropriate for men and what's appropriate for women. For example, men are asked to work. In other words, to be responsible for the expenditures of their wives and children (in a reasonable way) even if their wives were rich or even if the wives have their own works. (We'll talk more about the women work later). And, women are asked to be responsible for taking care of their babies.
This difference in these requirements is belonging to the General Benefits Rule; and not because of that men are males and women are females. That's men are not qualified to take care of babies in the same way women do it. A person in the Islamic system won't leave a duty unless there is more important duty to do.
In Western World, women are to take care of their monetary needs. No matter for a woman to be a wife, mom, or a daughter.
And as result, FIRST, families lost love among their members. SECOND, a lot of females lost their feminine and weren't able to take care of their children. A female lost her feminine because mostly she can't choose the right work for her. She has to work any work (witch would be so hard) that generates money for her in order to be able to live. Because (in general): No father, husband, and children would help her. Any way, upon her working, children would be raised in the Babysitting (Nursing) Organizations.
In western world, they always declare the equilibrium between men and women. But, this respect given to a woman is just because that she is female and beautiful. After her beauty is gone, she won't then be equal to men!!!
Marriage in western life is usually happen at a late age of both men and women. When woman gets older, her husband then would look for another… and, when that woman tries to keep her husband, the problems would appear between those wife and husband. And the result would usually be against the woman (threatening, beating…). Richard F. Jones (a professor in American College Obstetricians and Gynecologists) wrote an article in 1993 under the name "Domestic Violence: Let our voices be heard". He wrote that this epidemic disease is getting larger and larger in USA. He, also, wrote that every 12 second a woman in USA is getting infected with this disease. Every 12 second a woman is beaten by a husband or a boyfriend!
And, the old women, in western world, usually stay alone… They might be visited by a son or a daughter from time to time!!
Where as, woman in Islam, is treated based on her humanity not on her feminine and beauty. When she got old, her respect is getting bigger. Because Islam requires men to take care of their wives… and requires children to take care of their parents… Islam, also, tells us that our parents are the shortest way for the Heaven.
Don't forget that France in the 16th century were making a conference to determine wither the woman is Human or something else!!!
Woman Work:
In Islam, woman has the right (like men) to work in any occupation. Except for Presidency since a woman won't be able to lead the people in the time of putting her child for example.
Islam, also, put some restrictions on men work and women work (Ethics). An example of the restrictions on women work is the wear style. We'll talk later about women wearing style.
In western world, Professor Sharl L. Viders (the manager of American Center for Islamic Studies) said in 1977 that most men agree that women have the ability to do all the works done by men. But, they don't agree to have the same salary for the same work.
A French Writer called France Kerry said that western woman is losing her professional equilibrium which would affect her life in her family. She said that women always found themselves (even if they have the same qualifications) in a routine works and in less authority and less wages!! Because women have two works: the work in the company and the work relating to her family.
However, a lot of business companies have abused women in Europe. Used the money to attract women from Eastern Europe, Asia, and Latin America and then abuse them.. trading them… We wonder where that Law who support women and give them the right in life, work, and learning?! Any way, The British Law, about 100 years ago, was letting a man sell his wife when he get bored of her! (I read this some where but i don't remember the resource for this point; I'd appreciate any correction for this point)
Why men are the responsible for taking care of the family?
In Islam, the men are who is responsible for taking care of the family (for example, expenditure). Allah (the Creator) knows what is appropriate for men and what's appropriate for women. Usually when a thief enters a house, the man of the family will face him not the women. (please don't say that there are a lot of weak men and a lot of strong women; I'm talking in general and for example). So, men usually are more suitable for this responsibility. Yet, taking care of children (the job of women in the family) is not less important. This is of course, would help the woman in a family to still have her feminine and keeps her from the badness of working life.
Islam is looking first at the holiness of the family. Establishing the right family is the first priority.
In western world, women usually have to work. And men usually still have their authority over women.
A family that has its husband working and its wife working (both are responsible for the family) would lead to some kind of conflict: Conflict over the authority.
Note that it's wrong to say who should have the authority over the other: the husband or the wife. Both of them has their own responsibilities and authorities.
Women Wear:
Many think that veil is a thing that contradicts with equality principle we talked about first. But, If women wear the veil (in its right way), they would be more able to share men in building the society.
Women like men in mental and physical things. But women defer from men in that women have something called feminine. This is a thing that attracts men for sexuality.
Men receive from women both: Mental and physical collaboration to build the society, and the sexual attraction.
Now, you can see that in order for men and women to have the real collaboration to build the society there should be a mental concentration. On the other hand, when there is a sexual collaboration they need deferent things.
So, there must be a barrier between the two collaborations. In Islam this barrier is the veil. Here is an example: if a woman is making a scientific presentation in front of group of men. This woman are wearing sexy cloths and putting an attracting perfume. Men then would concentrate on the sexual part and forget about the scientific part. Men are dealing then with that woman as a female and forget about her brain.
We think that women don't like to be treated in this way. Women don't like for their brain to be ignored.
And, please, don't say, this discussion here reflects that Arab or Muslim men are so sexy to have such feeling about women. I'm talking about usual men not about cold men. Yet, someone would argue too that if we let these things happen usually and always (i.e., no veil and short clothes), they would be normal things and no men would get excited about women then. I'm afraid that this rule is wrong. Basically, such normal things might lead to deferent love. So, why we do hear about gays or lesbians in western world a lot?!!
If a woman wears cloths that prevent men from looking at her in a bad way, then men would listen to her brain. But, some would say that there are women who would do this scientific presentation without wearing these sexy cloths or putting sexy perfume. Then there would be no problem and there is no need for the veil. The answer is: some men have their own way in looking at women. For example, some men would have the mouth fetish.. or foot fetish…
Now, some
would say that this veil would prevent women acting well. Veil is bonding women.
The answer is that the shape and the style of the wear won't affect the human brain or the human activities.
Women in India wear cloths of deferent style of those used in Japan (traditional cloths), Europe countries, and USA. No one of these societies said that the deference of the cloths style had affected the developing of this society. And, there are a lot of women (over the world) who wear the most modern French style; but they are failures in their schools.
However in Islam, the veil doesn't include the face and hands of women.
By the way, men are not required to wear this style of cloths!!!!!! Because women are attracted sexually by things other those attracted by men.
